The Waltham
Family School offers comprehensive family literacy programs to
prepare children for success in school and to prepare adults for
success in the workforce and in the community. Free of charge
to families most in need of services, entering families must
have an adult who wants to learn English and a preschool child
3-5 years old. The family must commit to attend four mornings a
week during the school year and for a 4-week summer program.
The Waltham Family School program includes literacy-rich
preschool, English for Speakers of Other Languages, life skills,
parenting, and inter-active literacy, plus home visiting. All
classes are held at the South School, 510 Moody Street,
Waltham. The Waltham Family School, an Even Start Family
Literacy Program, is a collaborative program with the Waltham
Public Schools, Waltham Creative Start, the Parent Child Home
Program, an the Power Program, and the WPY.
